Sandra’s Birthday at Delicious KLCC

Happy Birthday to CEO of VMXArtist.com

This is another outdated post. On 15th of March 2008, we celebrated Sandra’s Birthday at Delicious KLCC branch. The restaurant name it all, the food is really delicious. The restaurant motto, “Made with Love”. The food is a must try! Hope to go there again. I still my first visit to Delicious was last year with Eri.

The DELIcious Story…a tale about having faith, and the right timing. Abby returned from Hong Kong as a retiree; Benjamin was at a fork in life’s road; Helen believed.
It began a little over two years ago when Abby came back from Hong Kong to enjoy life as a retiree that the subject resurfaced after being dormant for almost 15 years. The subject in question was to set up a little tea house by the side of our, then, five-year-old retail shop. We would make Helen’s famous scones, and Ben’s infamous carrot cakes amongst other little goodies, and Abby would flutter around to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves in our little tea house. We had a very clear vision of what we wanted. The lease was signed; the deposit paid; then the first round of costing for the setup and operations hit us like a ton of bricks. We would have had to sell over hundred thousand sets of scones a month to remain in business. It became apparent that there was something wrong with our vision. So, we made a road trip to Singapore to see what people were getting up to down south, hoping to ignite some ideas of what we could do to enhance our idea of a Tea House.
First Night. We headed straight for BORDERS, thinking we would pick up some restaurant management books. We figured the management point was a great starting point, since between the three of us, beyond a fiery passion for food, had zilch experience in running a food business. Baby steps. The first book “The Idiot’s Guide to Starting a Restaurant”.
Page One read…….. “Twelve Months before the start of business……..” Abby turned green and slammed the book shut. There was a little under twelve weeks before we had to open shop.
So the journey began - the next 12 weeks felt like one continuous down cycle rollercoaster ride. We threw out the idea of Abby and I baking 24/7 in the kitchen. We had to find ourselves a head chef. Believe it or not, this was made possible through one of Abby’s many unknown talents – cyber chatting. With Sabri, our Head Chef in tow, we cooked… And then, we cooked some more. All the hustle and bustle in Helen’s brand new kitchen was cause for curiosity among the neighbors - they thought our household feasted like Emperors in Roman times…up until the point we felt confidant enough to open up invitations to food-tasting sessions.
The vision we had in mind quickly morphed into a new concept. We wanted a place, which served good comfort food sans MSG; where real people could meet and greet sans bourgeois decadence. A destination with sense minus the dollars, making it affordable, because, when real sharing takes place, it tries not to exclude.
So, from the idea of a simple tea house, DELIcious became a full fledged cafe. Twelve weeks later. We opened for business on the 17th of February 2004. Our menu consisted of Pastas, Sandwiches, Salads, Local Delicacies, and of course Desserts – our pride and joy. Looking back, how we managed to cook everything from scratch, in our tiny kitchen, (I have seen Hotel toilets bigger than our kitchen), is beyond my comprehension. But we did it, with the love for good food and the desire to share.
Today, our menu has evolved to include a proper dinner menu. An all-day Breakfast menu on weekends, and brainstorming sessions are underway for a Sunday Brunch. Every day, we travel and seek new ideas or ways to enhance your dinning experience with us. We want DELIcious not just to be a pit stop for food but a destination for a total gastronomical experience. We want to share with you, the joys derived from our family
kitchen, when we bond over food. I’m sure it will be an interesting journey for you too.

KLPAC Open Day 2008

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Dear Readers,

Today I will blog about KLPAC which I attended last Sunday. I notice a numbers of visitors came in here using the KLPAC Open Day keywords. Hmm… anyway I will do a short coverage on what happened that day. I went with Eri and Hung Wei.

Eventually we was kinda late for the open day. I reach there about 2p.m. where the first few part of the agenda is already over. Anyway, I still enjoy myself there taking photos of the park and get into the idea what is Performing Arts is in the heart of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Performing arts is widely recognize throughout the world. It gives you a perspective of real-time acting, singing and doing your performances in front of lots of audience. As said, real-time. It needs lots of practice lot’s of commitment, lots of memorizing and lots of courage to be on stage performing.

All this happens only in 1 SHOT. No re-take like what we seen on TV where “cut” and “action” come in place (*I’m talking about performing arts).

Below is some of the photos I’ve taken during the KLPAC Open Day. Hope you guys like it.

klpac-open-day.jpg

on-the-move-performing.jpg

Performing on the move. These few performer will perform according to a context. A scene to be precise. So I take the opportunity to have a few shots while they freeze there. Heart Attack!! Play dead.

singing.jpg

They sang really well. Thumbs up! Next is Nick Davis and Eri.

nick-davis-and-eri.jpg

The photo below is taken with ISO1600. Noise? LOL! It actually exhibits the past performances performed in KLPAC.

Homecoming

Romi and Joolee - I think it’s a Malaysian version of Romeo and Juliet. LoL and what’s up with that scooter?

romi-and-joolee.jpg

Tunku - I think I heard lots of publicity on this performance from the radio around last year. Not too sure. But I’m sure it’s good.

tunku.jpg

Okay. Too many past performances to post. Will post other photos.

Then myself and Hung Wei sneaked in the Main Performing stage which I think it’s suppose to be close. But this stage gave me and eye opening. So colorful the seats!

main-performing-stage.jpg

Then myself and Hung Wei went out for some shots around the park.

And here I am posing in front of the lake. Haha.

eugene-posing.jpg

Then I got an idea and I took this shot - below - The Brick Wall with the lake

brick-wall-with-the-lake.jpg

Shot some ducks with 90-300mm f4.5-5.6 USM. Hands a bit shaky. LoL!

Then we went back in to get some air-cond. Cos it was so hot outside.

hungwei-and-eri.jpg

Ruby and Justin came late. Then we took a photo together.

eugene-eri-ruby-justin.jpg

We hang around indoor then we went out for some shooting again.

KLPAC Open Day

Friday, January 25th, 2008

This coming Sunday, 27th January 2008, I will be going to KLPAC for thier open day. It is free admission and parking also free! There will be lots of event going on there. Check out their website for more information regarding the open day HERE.

KLPac and the Sentul Park Koi Centre are opening our doors, both front and back, for our OPEN DAY 2008! There will be Backstage tours, Children’s activities, Costume displays, Drama & Dance, Music & Song, Indie films, Arts & Photography. Guess what? I heard that the Young KL Singers is there too. Wonder if Jen Ni will be around there.

Step onto the stage, be a fly on the wall of a rehearsal, get creative in workshops, have a sneak preview of upcoming shows from the people behind the scenes, test your skills in a vocal class, learn about Koi fish, get some tips on designing your own Japanese garden, or just wander at will!
